Jupiter Caregivers Rally to Keep Jobs Amidst Growing Support by Clergy, Elected Officials and Residents’ Families

Friday, May 29, 2009

Workers from Jupiter Care Center will rally in front of their facility at 17781 Thelma Avenue on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 3:30 PM to urge the new nursing home owner, Courtyard Gardens, to hire the current workforce.

Despite an outpouring of support from concerned family members, clergy, community members and elected officials, Courtyard Gardens, a Palm Beach healthcare company, is refusing to guarantee the current workforce continued employment when they purchase Jupiter Care Center at the end of May.

Caregivers at the 120-bed facility learned the new owners may be preparing to replace most of the current staff with new hires through a job fair newspaper advertisement for their facility in April 2009.  Representatives of the current operator, Jupiter Care Center, have made numerous appeals to Courtyard Gardens to hire their current employees.  Each of those requests has been denied.
