MEDI-DYN HOUSEKEEPERS AND CUSTODIAL WORKERS TO “MARCH LIKE KING” FOR JUST WAGES, AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE AND DIGNITY ON THE JOB ON

Thursday, April 03, 2008

West Palm Beach, FL—On Friday, April 4th, custodial workers and housekeepers employed by Medi-Dyn who clean St. Mary’s Medical Center will “March Like King” and stand up for their right to a living wage, affordable healthcare, full-time jobs and better working conditions.

Medi-Dyn housekeepers clean patient rooms before an admission, clean bathrooms, clean the Emergency Room, mop the floors, and maintain a hospital free of dust and debris. Many of these dedicated employees have cleaned St. Mary’s Medical Center for years. Yet, today, the predominantly African American, Haitian and Hispanic workforce do not earn enough to pay for health insurance, or sustain their families. Currently, only 4% Medi-Dyn of employees pay for Medi-Dyn-sponsored health insurance for their children.
